Lost wax casting: The ancient process of casting metal art and industrial precision parts

Lost wax casting is an ancient metal casting process that is known for its fine details and intricate designs.

This technology can not only produce beautiful works of art, but also widely used in the industrial field to produce a variety of precision metal parts.

The process of lost wax casting begins with making a model. According to the requirements of the drawing, the wax mold is opened, the wax raw material is injected, and it is cooled and solidified in the mold, and then taken out.

The wax mold will be refinished in detail to ensure that every detail is free of burrs and surface defects.

Next, the model is covered with a layer of refractory material to form a sturdy shell.

After the shell is dried, the wax inside is melted and drained, leaving a cavity that is exactly the same shape as the original model.

Then, the molten metal liquid is poured into this cavity, which is often referred to as pouring.

After the metal has cooled and solidified, the shell is broken and the metal casting is removed.

Finally, the casting is sanded and polished to remove any remaining casting marks, leaving it a smooth, perfect finished piece.

Lost wax casting is highly regarded because of its ability to capture every detail of the model, down to the tiniest textures and decorations. This process is not only suitable for small ornaments, but also for large sculptures and complex mechanical parts.
